Scene Speak provides a framework on the iPad to create Visual Scene Displays.  This application allows an image can be edited with active  “sound areas” that can be selected and used as a means of communication.  Images then can added into “books” by theme or area of interest.  Scene Speak is a wonderful communication tool for those with Autism, Aphasia, Apraxia, developmental disabilities or anyone wanting to enhance receptive language or visual memory.

Three different ways to access images to use in the app:
              1.  Import personalized images from your home computer to the iPad Camera roll.
              2.  Add images from the app’s built in internet image search feature
              3.  If you have the iPad 2, you can use the built in camera to import images directly into the app.

Once images are added into the app you have the ability to resize or crop the imported image as needed.  If you have software that makes Communication Boards, you can save those images as .jpeg files and import images into the app. through iTunes.

You can add multiple “sound areas” an image.  Size of  the “sound areas” can be changed and locations of those areas moved within the editing screen.  You then can record your own voice to the “sound areas” or use one of the five preloaded voices in the Text-To-Speech feature (Using Open Ears iOS and Flite libraries for text to speech conversion).

Multiple visual scene displays can be grouped based on themes or personal preference into “books”.  Multiple books can then be aved into the “book library” for future use.  When in app is in use, you can simply swipe from one “Visual Scene Display” to the next within a book.  Pages in the book can be locked/unlocked as needed.
